Corrections

A fact-checker is only worth trusting if it fixes its own mistakes in public.

Our policy

  1. We correct visibly. A correction appears at the top of the affected article, stating what was wrong and what is right.
  2. We never edit silently. Every change to a fact or a verdict is logged below with its date.
  3. If a verdict changes, the headline badge changes and the old verdict is shown.
  4. Typos and formatting fixes are made without a note. Anything that touches a fact or a source is a correction.
  5. Corrections come first. The next day's lead item carries any significant correction.

Report an error

Use the submission form and tell us the article, the line you think is wrong, and a link to your evidence. Add your email if you would like a reply. The editor reviews every request personally.
